Buddy Deppenschmidt, Drums

Buddy Deppenschmidt is an internationally respected performer, recording
artist and teacher who has been a member of The Newtown School of Music
staff since the 1970’s. He studied with Dave Levin of Phila. and two of
George Lawrence Stone’s prodigies, Arthur Dextrauder (classical
percussionist) and the legendary Joe Morello.

As an active performer, he has toured the world and leads an all-star band,
Jazz Renaissance. His work can be heard on three major motion picture
soundtracks, six major record labels and over 40 C.D.s one of which, Jazz
Samba (Verve) was recently inducted into the Grammy Awards Hall of Fame.

Many of Buddy’s recordings are designated by recording industry critics as
Original Jazz Classics. Some of his work has been transcribed in Modem
Drummer Magazine and Creative Coordination for the Performing Drummer
by Keith Copeland.

He has biographical listings in both Leonard Feather’s The Encyclopedia of
Jazz in the Sixties and Barry Kemfeld’s New Grove Dictionary of Jazz.

Recently, two of his students were awarded a total of $32,000 in scholarships
to The Berklee School of Music in Boston, Ma.
