The Community Conservatory of Music, a non-profit 501(c) 3 organization, offers a broad range of individual lessons and group classes in music, art and drama. CC also provides the community with recitals, ensembles, workshops, outreach projects, concerts, studio space and booking services for musicians. The Conservatory is a Full Member of the National Guild of Community Schools of the Arts, the Central Bucks Chamber of Commerce, the Doylestown Business and Community Alliance, and the Arts and Business Council of Greater Philadelphia.

The Program

- The program will occur 1-2 times a month either after school or on Saturdays

- Adolescent teachers, aged 14-19 will act as peer mentors and educators for children aged 5-12

- Group classes and individual lessons will be held in guitar, keyboards, percussion, flute, recorder, violin, saxophone, art and acting/drama

- Instruments and supplies will be provided for students

- At the end of the school year, the children will perform in a concert and art work will be displayed.

- Guest teaching artists will share their talent and expertise

Mission

Neighborhood Notes is dedicated to providing arts education and appreciation of the performing and visual arts for financially disadvantaged youth in the Delaware Valley.

Purpose

Teen peer leaders/mentors will serve as arts educators, conducting one on one lessons and group classes in music, art and acting. The goals are:

o To provide a fun opportunity for young people to experience a different culture

o To develop inherent talents and improve self esteem

o To fill the void that is created due to decreased funding of the arts in public schools

o To provide young people interested in the arts a way of serving as community leaders
