Individual sessions, provided by a board certified music therapist
or a registered dance therapist from the Kardon Institute for Arts
Therapy, or a certified art therapist, are tailored to meet each
student's skills, abilities and needs.
Arts therapy involves the use of the arts to influence positive
changes in behavior and help individuals achieve their greatest
potential. Such behavioral changes include the development of new
skills, the improvement of existing skills, or the maintenance of
previously learned skills to
prevent regression. Targeted areas include
communication, cognitive, motor, emotional, and social skills.
The Community Conservatory currently provides music, dance/movement,and
visual art therapies. The population served may include, but is
not limited to, people with visual or hearing impairments, developmental,
physical and emotional disabilities, and language/communication
disorders.
People who qualify for the Prelude Project may
be eligible for tuition assistance based on adjusted gross income.
