  • Sunday, June 3, 2012
  • Concert: 6:00 PM (Doors open at 5:00PM)

The Community Conservatory will offer a Special Stretched Strings Concert to be held Sunday June, 3 at 6:00 PM. Stretched Strings features Grammy nominated resident artist Tim Farrell and two of the most advanced guitar students from the Community Conservatory Nick Kashem and Joe DeVenuto.

The first half of the concert will feature performances by Kashem and DeVenuto, both graduating seniors who will each showcase their considerable talents and personal styles. The second half of the concert will be a preview of Farrell’s Celebration of Guitar program featuring select music performed on his Custom Signature Guitar and several other unique and one of a kind instruments.

Nick Kashem is a senior at New Hope – Solebury High School where he plays in the Jazz Band, in the pit orchestra and just about anywhere that a guitarist is required. Kashem has studied classical, fingerstyle, jazz and rock music and plays each with a fine melodic sense and rhthymic flair. Kashem will travel west to play with the Hawaii Pacific University Jazz Band in the fall.

Joe DeVenuto is a senior at Archbishop Wood High School. He has studied the unique two hand tapping and rhythmic techniques of noted contemporary fingerstyle guitarists which he performs with an easy touch and melodic sensibility. DeVenuto has also studied jazz improvisation, music theory and Latin rhtyhms. He will continue his musical journey when he heads to Drexel University in the fall.

A highly accomplished guitarist and Grammy nominee, Tim Farrell has mastered the intricacies of fingerstyle guitar – infusing craft, technique and melodic substance to create his own inimitable style. An active educator and performer, he has shared audiences with musicians as diverse as George Benson, Les Paul, Derek Trucks, Rick Wakeman, Jake Shimabukuru and Jean-Luc Ponty. His music is enjoyed internationally on broadcast and Internet radio, airline in-flight audio, television, multi-media and films such as “The Missing Piece.” Farrell was recently selected to the artist roster of Pennsylvania Performing Arts on Tour for the eleventh year in a row and his album CODAS was voted as Best of Echoes 2010 (www.echoes.org). Farrell’s song Rosewood Alley garnered 1st Place Best Instrumental in the 7th Annual International Acoustic Music Awards.
